Written by, Sarah Martens

Director: Mike Newell
Actors: Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint
Summary: 14 year old Harry Potter attends his 4th year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and must compete in the Triwizard Tournament, while dealing with teenage problems such at friendships, girls and… death?

I’ll get to my title in a bit but first off let me say that trying to put a 636 page book into one film is “not” a good idea and that Rowling is losing grip on her whip. Basically this is how it goes for most people watching the film. If you haven’t read the book then you can enjoy the movie for its plot, graphics, cinema and various other aspects of the movie that were really well done. On the downside though the movie progresses very fast, and I mean we’re talking superman out running the speeding bullet here, so it can be at times fairly difficult to follow. This is of course assuming you’ve seen the first three movies, if not heh heh… good luck understanding anything, don’t waste your money. If on the other hand you have read the books… it’s twice as bad because it’s hard to notice all the stuff they did well cause you’re too busy thinking about all the things they botched up. The latter of these problems was my own and believe me I could write a series of books on all the botching. The acting of the adult performers is excellently and the child/teen actors skills are improving with age so over all bravo on that. As for the costumes I find myself full heartedly agreeing with the writer from the Toronto Star, the Beaubaton girls look like Bavarian flight attendants in their blue uniforms, their headmistress looks like a drag queen and my own addition the death eaters robes have a reminiscent feel of the KKK. Why do people feel the need to symbolize evil and prejudice with pointy hats? Over all though I have to admit I did enjoy it and for a 2 (1/2) hour film that would have been better as a two parter they did a half descent job. So it’s worth a see just don’t read the book immediately before you see it.
